Family Counselling Sunshine Coast

Family Therapy in Buderim for Communication, Connection and Trust

Family relationships can be some of the most meaningful connections in our lives, but they can also be the most complex. When communication breaks down, conflict becomes ongoing, or family members feel disconnected from one another, it can impact the wellbeing of everyone involved.

At Calming The Circle Therapy, we provide compassionate, evidence-based family counselling on the Sunshine Coast, helping families strengthen relationships, improve communication, and navigate life’s challenges together.

Led by experienced therapist Amy Primrose, family therapy offers a safe and supportive space where family members can feel heard, understood, and supported while working towards healthier ways of relating to one another.

We offer family counselling from our Buderim practice and via secure telehealth across Australia.

How Family Counselling Can Help

Every family experiences challenges at different stages of life. Family therapy can help when relationships become strained, communication feels difficult, or ongoing conflict is impacting family wellbeing.

Common reasons families seek counselling include:

  • Parent and child conflict

  • Teen behavioural or emotional challenges

  • Communication breakdowns

  • Family separation or divorce

  • Blended family transitions

  • Sibling conflict

  • Grief and loss

  • Major life changes and adjustment

  • Mental health challenges affecting the family unit

  • Ongoing family tension or disconnection

  • Parenting stress and differing parenting approaches

  • Building stronger family relationships

Family counselling focuses on understanding the needs of each family member while strengthening the family system as a whole.

Our Approach To Family Therapy

At Calming The Circle Therapy, we understand that every family has its own unique story, strengths, and challenges.

Amy takes an integrative and personalised approach to family counselling, drawing from evidence-based therapies including:

  • Family Systems Therapy

  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Attachment-Based Approaches

  • Somatic Awareness

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Rather than focusing on blame, family therapy explores the patterns, communication styles, and emotional needs that may be contributing to conflict or disconnection.

The goal is to help family members better understand one another, improve communication, and create healthier ways of navigating challenges together.
